Fragrance Alert - do you know the chemicals used?

I have never thought about fragrances or scents in the products other whether I liked the scents or disliked them.  But then one day a friend sent me a book geared towards new moms and those who are planning to become a Mom. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the book, but one of the chapters was dedicated to the fragrances and perfumes and the damage they may do to you and your children.

One of the things I never knew is their effects on the hormones, especially if you are pregnant with boys. Other problems - like allergic reaction, skin irritation, etc. were more familiar - as many people experience those problems and they are usually instant.

Since then I buy products that are labeled free and clear, fragrance free. I try to avoid fragrant products as much as I can - unless they have the natural oils that add the fragrance.

Read the label even if you need to use glasses or a magnifying glass for the small print.  Not that “unscented” does not necessarily mean a product is made without fragrance chemicals. This term can be misleading to consumers, particularly to those with an allergy related to fragrance. Natural fragrances can also cause sensitivities.  The term "fragrance free" on the other hand denotes products that do not contain any fragrances at all.
